"I dwell in possibility." - Emily Dickenson
Emily Dickenson's Poem |
I want to dwell in the place where all things are possible
The place of my childhood
The place of my dreams
Not just for a visit
But to reside
Forever
Do you have moments when you believe that anything is possible? Sometimes I do. Sometimes I live in a house full of windows and doors. But sometimes I get trapped in the dark basement of impossibility, chained to the walls of defeatist thinking. Shackles of negativity bite into my wrists and ankles. Who decides where I dwell? I want to be the one. Today I choose to dwell in possibility. How about you?
Yes, I swim in possibilities. It's all about the choices we make. We can choose the dark and dreary or the possible dreams we strive for.
ReplyDeleteKeep swimming. ^_^
DeleteThis was a lovely post, Angelina. I choose to dwell in the world of possibility.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mieke. It's a beautiful world.
DeleteGorgeous post to start the day. I dwell in the settings around me and while I enjoy the sunshine and light, the grey days have their own pull.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm dwelling in fog this morning. Outside. Not in.
DeleteOh me too. Dwell. Word for the day.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to make this my theme for the year. ^_^
DeleteLovely post Angelina :) I have moments where I slip into that basement, sometimes for longer than I care to, but I much prefer to dwell and dream in possibility.
ReplyDelete*hugs*
When you need someone to rescue you from the basement, just holler. ^_^
DeleteOne of my CPs sent this quote as a wall decal, so I have a giant reminder to "Dwell in Possibilites" hanging on my wall. Usually I read it as "Dwell in Impossibilities," but instead of seeing that as a negative, I see it as a push to do things beyond your capabilities. As a swimmer, coaches often remind us we can do far more than we think is possible.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting distinction between not getting caught in what you think you can't do, and not dreaming big enough.
Interesting twist on the quote, Taryn. Makes sense.
DeleteI used to be very negative. Now I am much more positive--maybe not a full-fledged optimist, but more accepting of possibility!
ReplyDeleteSo it is a choice!
DeleteVery timely post for me! This week I've been too caught up with the good things happening to everyone else, and not focusing on my own work. Granted, I enjoy other's successes, but I need to spend equal time making my own possibilities a reality!
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteI have to dwell in possibility. It's so easy to get swallowed up by negativity and self-doubt, a black hole of defeat that's way too hard to climb out of.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. I've actually been teetering on the chasm of self-doubt this week. Thanks for this perspective - I need this reminder to help reel me back in every now and then. :)
My pleasure, Alison. I'll throw you a line anytime.
DeleteOh my gosh yes on dwelling in possibility. Wish I did it more though--instead of it being whoa moments I'd like it to be all. the. time. Self doubt, disbelieving in yourself kinda sucks, ya know?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this, Angelina. Have a great rest of this weekend.
