Final July #WIPMADNESS Check-In

"In summer, the song sings itself." ~William Carlos Williams
Yellow's smoochin' red, don't ya think?

Here we are at the end of July
Summer's flyin' by
Are you having fun?

All I want to do is cry
But I still write and try
To have some fun

And so we reach the end of July, Wipsters.
As for writing, I am still pouring out the angsty poetry.
What about you? Are you having some fun?
And who is going to continue the #WIPMADNESS in August?

  1. Oh boy, I fell off track this month! I mostly muddled around in two WIPs, trying to figure out which one to focus on. Now that I've got it figured out, I definitely need some August WIPMadness to motivate me!

  2. My fun is assuming the famed ostrich position = head in the sand, butt in the air, tail feathers to the wind. In other words, even as I'm packing I refuse to acknowledge the move this weekend. I know not what my hands are doing. In refusing to acknowledge, I'm drafting along nicely, thank you. =)

  3. It's been a yukky week in many regards, but I took a few days off of everything, baked in the sun, and I'm feeling a bit better. Not quite psyched up for August yet, but there are several projects I want to get through before September, so hopefully I'll work up some energy soon. September I'm looking forward to working on something BRAND NEW. It's been a while!

  4. Thank you for hosting this month, Angelina and congrats again to that little green guy.

Had some ups, downs, lefts an rights, this month. Like Jennifer, I went off track. At times I thought it was a complete derailment, but I think my WIP's working much better now. Sometimes you need to muck about in the sludge to get to where you need to be.

August will be the continuation of my summer writing challenges. I just can't believe it's already here. At least I have a clearer path this time around. I'll also be working on some anthology submissions a couple new, but another two from pieces I workshopped awhile ago that might find a home somewhere.

The family is doing a mini vacay for the long weekend. While The Keysmashing Tots will be with me on this trip, I think the change of environment will help start August on the right foot.

I'm exhausted and excited, an interesting combination.

    See you all in August!

    The writing continues,

    Tonete

  5. Take care, Angelina. We're here for you!

Poetry is powerful thing. It's helped me work through stuff, too. *hugs*

This month has been great, mostly because I finished my WIP, but I've been devoting energy to a new WIP in a totally different genre. It's a category romance. Pie in the sky goal will be to have it finished and polished for So You Think You Can Write, which means in September. But I am also starting to send queries, too. I just need to finish tweaking my synopsis, since I have the profesisonal edit an agent did (because of a workshop I took with her at Writer's Digest) back in my hands. And I need to get my query letter down pat to send out to agents. That will be my focus this week (well, and reaching the 30K goal I set for Camp NaNo!)

  6. I've had a laid back month. Not a ton of writing, mostly revising. I got back word from my agent and she enjoyed the latest version. Yay! I've just gotten it back from another reader and I'll make a couple of more changes and get it back to my agent. My fingers are crossed I'm almost there!

August is going to be very busy as I start my new yoga teaching job tomorrow. We're also headed to New Mexico August 15-19 for a quick getaway before school starts. Hopefully I can squeeze in finishing of revisions on PB, and working on my next idea. :)

Can't remember am I doing August or was it Sept?

  7. Oh writing, wherefore art thou so gosh-darn hard! I'm writing maybe once a week for maybe an hour or two. If I could get that up to thrice a week for an hour each time -- if my wrist didn't hurt whenever I wrote... If wishes were fishes... It's still nice to have a place to check in and give up the ego. I'm still working on McCorduck 7, now called Shadow Status. I'm rewriting it. Basically rethinking the whole book, so the going is slow anyway. But ... when I DO sit down and get words in, it's fun. And I'm glad of that. Hugs, all! Back to wipping.

    1. Like the new title. Rethinking means working on it, even if you're not always at it, right? Hugs back!

  9. I was doing fine until this week. Then things fell apart with family here in the midst of their move and things to help with on their new house. Suddenly it's almost August and it now appears August is going to be much last this past week! So I suspect my writing is going to be sandwiched into small available corners of my days and nights. Not ideal, but....

Thanks for hosting this month, Angelina. I'll come back later to see who's doing August and hope to be able to keep checking in even if my progress is sketchy.

  12. Thanks again for hosting, Angelina! I've been on holiday with my awesome Ghost Son, meeting his best buddy in North Carolina, so I've kind of fallen off the map. My wip has been a bit dormant for the past two weeks, but it won't be for long. AND...I can finally announce the big news...

I WON THE SCBWI WORK IN PROGRESS GRANT!!!! ((still pinching myself)) The results are listed here

    Rock on Wipsters!!!
