Wipmadness Week 4 Check-In

Hello Everyone!

Due to a severe electrical storm Saturday night, I am without Internet. Yikes! So I'm sitting outside my closed library on the bench and it's about to rain again. So without further ado, tell us how you're week has been. Mine has been hectic and emotional and I feel like I need Ace to take me to his home planet for a while.

How are you, Wipsters?

  2. I have started to query. Or at least, started writing the query letters. Will hit send soon, I hope.

Other than that, I've been working on my CampNaNo, exercising, and for the past three days, battling a terrible cold.

  3. I had my daughter home visiting for 10 days, so I took 10 days off! Returned to working on my MG as of yesterday. Son3 and I are heading out camping for a week soon, but I've printed out my pages and have my notebook and pens ready...planning to get many words written out in the forest!

  4. It's been a hectic week with not all that much accomplished. We did have a nice little holiday in California, though. Getting back to real life is hard, but I'm working at it. Angelina's little green friend Ace made an appearance on my blog today: http://denisejaden.blogspot.ca/2013/07/green-gas-aliens-and-other-unearthly.html

  5. My week hasn't been hectic at all, but don't talk to me about the approaching weekend or next week! I KNOW they're going to be wild. Unfortunately this year vacation time isn't until late-August, so about now I'm envying Denise and Shari.

I hit the 'send' button on a contest entry this afternoon, took a deep breath and intended to relax a bit, but decided I should start on another one now. How crazy is that??? So that's my project in between things during the next couple weeks.

Hope everyone is finding time to catch a bit of R&R. I'm heading over to Denise's blog now to check out Ace's appearance.

  6. Bummer, Angelina! Hope the weather is better for you!

Last week started off totally crazy. I followed a prompting on triple checking a piece that I 'thought' was under the public domain only to find it wasn't. My publisher was wonderful and helped me make an otherwise terrible experience turn out better. **Will post about my experience later! It was a huge learning experience about the whole copyrighting thing.

This week hope to attack more of this revision. Decided to break down and purchase a new laser printer so I can print out a hard copy and go from there. **I usually do this and read the whole manuscript, making notes throughout before attacking story again. I really hope to get this out to Beta readers by Fall so I can start querying again!

  7. As far as cruddy writing weeks go, last week mine was craptacular. However, in learning how to navigate through the rough patches and forging ahead, I know my WIP will be much stronger. In the meantime, I had a staycation this weekend and it felt wonderful to recharge my mind and spirit. Got treated to a spa massage, too, so the body was rejuvenated, as well.

For those of you in my neck of the writing woods, I ended the weekend with a feast of birds at Chambar restaurant last night. New culinary experiences such as ostrich tartare, pheasant terrine, squab and quail, opened my mind and palate and I reconnected with the fun and inquisitive side to life.

This week I aim on translating that into my WIP. Some fundamental tweaking is in order, but I don't mind treating it like a brand spanking new idea. Remember the excitement of tackling a new project? While mine isn't exactly new, my perspective and approach will be like that shining moment flooded with possibilities.

Feel better, Laura. That was me a few weeks ago. Don't miss that, at all.

I get so giddy hearing about everyone's progress. Can't wait to read everyone's stories, and that includes our little green amigo.

Here's to a happy writing week!

  9. I'm slogging through revision 2. Picture me in love deflecting suit (so that I can emotionlessly ax precious scenes) with a machete, yet at the same time I am wearing come hither muse catching lingerie (to bring on the new and better scenes) holding a butterfly net. My week.

Can I pimp my blog? I'm doing a new series of librarian interviews (cool, right!) and am giving away Twitter T's - Please, all of you, play in the contest if you'd like, http://jayerobinbrown.blogspot.com/2013/07/introducing-keeper-of-wonder-series.html Just leave a comment on why you love librarians.

  10. Sending some alien ((hugs)), Angelina...and holding on to a very exciting secret. It's not "the big one," but it's pretty freakin' awesome, and I'll share as soon as I can.

Other than that, I'm in the middle of editing a nightmare dissertation and preparing for an amazing week in North Carolina with Ghost son and his best friend.

Just hope I don't lose too much WIP momentum in all this...

  11. How fun to read through everyone's excitement! Yay Wipsters!! We are moving next weekend, which means packing up next week, so this week is a heavy writing one for me - drafting, drafting, drafting so I don't lose my momentum. The crazy thing is I'm actually making progress. Who knew?! =)

OH, and I may have downloaded a certain MG novel by a certain green alien...
